Andrae Grant

Andrae Grant was born and raised in Houston, Texas and is a lover of all instruments (especially the saxophones) ! He is a creative and dynamic saxophonist, with a colorful, full, yet soulful sound on the Tenor Saxophone that inspires the hearts of audiences around the world. His love for music began as a young boy, when jazz was introduced to him by his uncles. It was at the age of 12 years old at Marshall Middle School, that he got his first shot at the horn. While attending Kashmere High School under the direction of William Portis, he met the great Conrad O. Johnson who was known for his uncanny teaching and whose legacy still remains today. It was here that Andrae developed the skills needed to pursue a career in music.

While attending Texas Southern University, he began to play and record with local and national talents such as gospel recording artists, Micah Stampley and James Fortune; R&B act, Miki Howard; and contemporary jazz artist, Michael Manson. Andrae is currently out on the road with southern soul blues artist, Mel Waiters, and plays locally in Houston with “Ronnie Coleman and Merlot”. His playing can be witnessed on recordings by Jimmy B (smooth jazz guitarist), Micah Stampley’s “A Fresh Wind The Second Sound” and can also be found taking a few solos on jazz pianist, Pierre’s “A New Day” Album.
